The Evaluation of Torrefaction Efficiency for Lignocellulosic Materials Combined with Mixed Solid Wastes

The paper presents the results of research aimed at evaluating possibility using selected biomass wastes to produce solid biofuels. In this work, thermochemical properties two lignocellulosic biomasses, namely, miscantshus (Miscanthus × Giganteus) and hops (Humulus lupulus), non-lignocellulosic biomass, municipal waste, their mixtures (micanthus + waste waste) were studied torrefaction process as main method for investigation. effects various temperatures (250, 300, 350 °C) times (30 60 min) evaluated. Proximate ultimate analyses performed on torrefied samples. following can be stated: temperature time increased, mass energy yields decreased while higher heating values (HHVs) fuel ratios (FRs) together with carbon contents (C). addition, return investment (EROI) was studied; maximum EROI 28 achieved MSW biochar 250 °C 30 min. studying greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) showed a reduction around 88% when substitute coal. sum, study shows that pre-treatment improve physicochemical raw biomasses level comparable coal, could helpful in better understanding conversion those into valuable, biofuel.
